The Rising Sun State School was in existence for approximately three years during which time the HT (Head Teacher) as John McLean. It was conducted in a leased building. When it opened on 9th December 1889 there were 22 children on the roll – 13 boys and 9 girls. It closed early in 1893. The location of this school is the Bendoc area of East Gippsland near the NSW/Victorian border.
